This is my first real blog, and I’m stoked it gets to be on such an exciting topic! I should be working on a paper right now, but this interests me much more. Last week, we received word that our student visas have been approved, making this whole experience so much more real. It’s so hard to believe that we’ll be taking flight in a month and a day. Tomorrow, we’re attending an award ceremony for the recently accepted study abroad students and we have to ‘dress nice.’ Yay! All these formalities are making the move so exciting; a big contrast to the application process.
As David Wick, our wonderful advisor, has been putting it, everything seems to be allHongKong-allthe time! Yesterday, I went to get some ‘Chinese food’ at the student center, and I just stared at everything thinking how I can’t wait to have some real FUN!!!! (go fun go fun)
A reason for choosing Hong Kong definitely lies in the seemingly difference in culture. The name of this blog for instance ‘badunkadunk on a junk’ isn’t just a catchy phrase to shake your hips to–it’s a real occurrence in the lifestyle in Hong Kong. Very different from the ‘normal’ living accommodations in the States. This along with other land uses blow my mind. Of course we have skyscrapers in NY and SF, but on the real, the ones in HK aren’t just for office space. Studying these first hand will be quite the trip.
In preparation for departure, it’s so hard to think of things I’m going to need. I don’t want to bring too little in fear of something not being available ‘over there,’ but then again, why bring my Cali steez to HK? I’m open to suggestions.
In any case, I really should get back to my paper–it’s on zoning in San Bernardino County. Will be interesting comparing it to HK.
i think that you should take me. i fold quite nicely, and remain wrinkle free.
